When Kathy first moved to Wisconsin about five years ago, she made Racine her home. When exploring her new city, she would go for walks near Lake Michigan and discovered The DeKoven Center! This became one of her favorite places to explore and a hidden gem she loved to share when others would visit. She and Manny spent many a lovely afternoon walking hand in hand around the grounds when they first started dating.
The DeKoven Center was originally built as Racine College in the 1850’s (a fitting venue for Kathy, a teacher) and is now a retreat and conference center. From their website: “Set along Lake Michigan’s bluffs in Racine, The DeKoven Center’s 11-acre campus is a unique and versatile setting that offers nationally-recognized architectural treasures, gorgeous gardens, serene wooded areas and other distinctive spaces, ideal for everything from reflection to celebration.”
